New Beginnings

Who can believe that it’s March already? Not me, anyway. The fact that 2014 has even begun still baffles me to this day. The start of a new month, or year is something that I love, even if my brain can’t accept the concept of time! Pretty much everybody starts of 2014 with resolutions, ‘new year, new me’ mantras and come January 15 most of them are gone out the window. Not eating chocolate ever again wasn’t a very realistic resolution, now was it?;)

So, given that today is March 2nd, I thought I’d share with you my views on new beginnings. I take every opportunity that I have to start again, to start afresh and to be better. A new year isn’t the only occasion that you can pledge to be a better person, or create goals for yourself. Try to treat this month as a new beginning. Have a few of your New Years Resolutions gone out the window? Try to achieve them again, and try to figure out what went wrong last time. Make a list of things you’d like to achieve this month, no matter how big or small, and stick it somewhere you’ll see it. The thing about time is, it goes on. I’m always saying to myself, ‘I’d love to do that one day.’ Why not make that day today?! Or next week? Setting goals helps you feel more productive, and you’re more likely to actually follow them through if you see them in writing every single day.

We’re in our third month of 2014 now, try to think of how far you’ve come. If you’re looking back on things that you’d hoped to have done by now and don’t, don’t be discouraged. Think of all of the things that you have done, even if it’s just clearing out your wardrobe. Chances are, you’ve done a lot more than you think. What’s changed since the end of 2013? And what do you want to change for 2014? Make a list of all of these things, and keep track of them. When you have something done, write it down. Every bit of progress counts, and it will be great to look back at the end of the month, and year, and see how far you’ve come and all the things you’ve achieved.

So don’t wait for the bells to ring in on December 31st this year –  every week, every month, every day is a new beginning. Make the most of it!

*Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try*
