Fall Fashion With Paul Fredrick

As much as I hate admitting the fact that summer is nearly over, I can’t help but be excited for fall. I love the cosy clothes, the crunchy leaves and the fact that drinking seven cups of tea a day is acceptable. Fall is my favourite season for fashion – layering is my middle name. Seeing all of the new season collections coming out makes me more excited than is normal, I’ve a note in my phone that is twenty points long (and counting) with things I want to buy for the colder months.

When I came across Paul Fredrick’s fall line for men for Autumn/Winter 2014, I couldn’t help but be really impressed. I love men’s fashion and going shopping with my dad or my boyfriend for when they need some style advice. Shopping is shopping, right?

So if you’re like me and give the men in your life a helping hand when it comes to their wardrobes, here are some of my favourite pieces from Paul Fredrick’s new collection, my favourite fall trends for men, as well as some of the fall trends I’m looking forward to myself.

You just can’t go wrong with rich colours and prints for autumn. Purples, reds and browns are colours that appear every year without fail. Matching dress shirts, like above, with different ties and different pieces can really make them go that bit further, however. Paisley is one of my favourite prints all year round, it’s a great way of incorporating floral designs into your look without being too strong.

A classic tweed suit is a really good piece to have in your man’s wardrobe. My dad has a tweed jacket that he wears with jeans and trousers during the colder months and it looks so smart. By breaking a suit up into separates you really get the value for money. A brown suit, like the one pictured above, looks great paired with raspberry red and dark navy. A pair of loafers can make any outfit look modern-vintage, and are a really nice change from the normal dress-shoe.

The cool colour pairing of grey and blue is one of my favourite pieces from the collection. A shirt like this can be worn to work with trousers, for drinks with a pair of chinos and on the weekend with a pair of jeans. The smallest details can make a huge difference to an outfit, like putting different colour pocket squares in your suit jacket.

Top Picks for Fall for Women

Khaki jackets, knee high boots and cosy knits appear every year for women’s fashion. I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair of brown Chelsea boots, a shearling khaki jacket and a load of oversized knits. Tartan and check are huge every year, so I’ll be pulling out some old check shirts from the back of my wardrobe. I’m dying to purchase a pair of ripped at the knee jeans, although I can’t see myself wearing them when it gets much colder! Huge scarves are a must for me when it comes to fall fashion. I plan on buying a few so I can mix and match them with different outfits. Oversized and statement tees with leather-look trousers is another look I love for fall – it’s all about the comfort!

Top Picks for Fall for Men

Burgundy, emerald green and navy are my favourite colours for men (and women’s) fall fashion.   A tweed jacket, like I said above is a really really good piece to have for autumn as it dresses up an outfit instantly. Jumpers and knits with a t-shirt or shirt underneath is something else I love in men’s fashion. Skinny jeans and trousers look great with boots and trainers, although I don’t think I’ll be getting my dad or boyfriend into skinny jeans anytime soon. Denim shirts look great closed up with chinos, or open with a t-shirt underneath. Striped tees with skinny jeans and ankle boots always looks great, too.
