My Top 10 MAC Products

Image

Oh MAC, how I love you. MAC was the first high-end makeup brand I tried, and it’s the first place I go whenever I’m looking to buy new high-end makeup. I’ve loved every product I’ve picked up from MAC, so it was pretty hard to pick out just 10 products today. If you’re just getting into makeup or are looking to pick up some new high-end makeup, I’d recommend visiting MAC. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed with the huge choice, quality and makeup artist standard of makeup.

1. Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

For years MAC was the only brand foundation I’d use. I’ve tried a few different formulas over the years, but Studio Fix has been my favourite find. The coverage is amazing – redness and blemishes be gone. The formula is easy to blend and is long lasting, it’s non-drying and photographs well. I can’t say enough good things about this foundation, I use NW20 which is perfect for nights out when I’m wearing fake tan, but too dark for day to day wear. Safe to say, I’ll be picking up a bottle of this in a lighter shade for day wear!

2. Mineralise SkinFinish in Light

I rave about this powder nearly every second day in my posts (sorry!) so I won’t say too much. To put it shortly, this powder keeps shine at bay but doesn’t leave a ‘powdery’ finish on the skin. It provides a little bit of coverage, but not much, it’s just enough to seal your base for long-lasting wear.

3. Studio Finish Concealer

When it comes to bases, I love high coverage (if you can’t already tell). Thanks to redness and blemishes, a high coverage concealer is what I need. This concealer covers everything with one application, and blends well into the skin. Even though the pot is so small, it has lasted me ages and a little goes a long way. I know I’ll definitely be repurchasing this as soon as I run out.

4. Pro Sculpting Cream in Accentuate

Kim K is to be blamed for this purchase. Her highly contoured and concealed base is much coveted by beauty lovers everywhere, and after researching online I found that cream products are the way to go to achieve this look. This product is ultimately a concealer to highlight your face. I’m not talking shimmery highlight here, I’m more talking ‘change my bone structure’ kinda highlight. I’ll be posting a full contour and highlight post, so I’ll explain more there, but if you’re looking for a cream highlight to get that Kim K look, I’d recommend picking this up if you can as it’s easy to blend and sets well.

5. Mineralise SkinFinish in Soft and Gentle

Speaking of highlight, Soft and Gentle is perfect for achieving a shimmery effect. Along the cheekbones, on your Cupid’s bow, under the brow bone, even as an eyeshadow, this product is perfect for giving the skin a gorgeous sheen.

6. Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour in Keep It Loose

The discovery of cream blushes was one of the best in the beauty world for me. Some people only use cream blushes in the warmer months, but I love using them all year round for a dewy, fresh finish. This blush is easy to work into the skin and gives a pretty pink flush to the cheeks. I don’t use this as a lip colour as it’s too pinky for me.

7. Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection

My one stop product for a gorgeous eye look with minimal effort. I don’t even use a brush with this, I simply wipe it all over my lids and blend out into the crease. It’s a gorgeous light brown shimmery colour that can be used as a base, on its own or built up for darker colour.

8. Eyeshadow in WoodWinked

What did I do without this shadow? Another one stop product for a gorgeous eye look with minimal effort, WoodWinked is a shimmery gold brown. Whenever I’m in a rush to go out I pat this over my eyelids and blend into the crease. Done. The colour becomes more matte as it blends into the crease, making it look like you’ve spent longer on your eye makeup than you really have. It looks great smoked out under the eye, built up for stronger colour or simply on its own.

9. Strobe Cream

Every time I get my makeup done in MAC, this product is always used as a base. And I always love how my makeup looks when I get it done in MAC, so I had to pick it up. Just a blob of this rubbed all over the face before applying foundation illuminates the skin and gives it a gorgeous glow. It’s by no means shiny or sparkly, Strobe Cream just gives the skin a little extra something that makes all the difference.

10. Hue Lipstick

Can I point out the very strange shape that this lipstick has developed? I swear I don’t have huge, rounded lips, it’s just the way I apply it :’) I couldn’t write a post on my favourite MAC products without mentioning a lipstick, seeming as MAC lipsticks take up most of my collection. Hue is the perfect nude – a true ‘your lips but better’ colour. It’s pink without being too pink and is really creamy so it doesn’t dry out the lips. I’m nearly at the end of this lipstick *sob* but no doubt a new one will be purchased!

What are your favourite MAC products? Do you have any recommendations?

I’m not a big MAC fan. Haha. BUT there are things that I do love, MSF is one of them, I forgot all about the new one I purchased a while back until you mentioned it here! I was suckered in to buying the Select SPF foundation which super sucked, it just sat on top of the skin and didn’t blend at all. Woodwinked & Naked Lunch were the best easy eye combo, I never owned them but I would always use my BFF’s, haha. The lipsticks are pretty classic too: Ruby Woo, Vegas Volt, Rebel, Angel… Guess I’m a bigger MAC fan than I thought 😉

haha sounds like you’re a secret MAC fan! Maybe it’s worth taking a trip into your local MAC store 😉 I love those eyeshadows! The pigmentation is amazing – same goes for the lipstick! xx
