A Night at the Oscars (kind of)

Give me any excuse to wear a full length dress and I’m there. Last night there was a society ball on in college that had an Oscars theme. When it was announced, I was searching for full length dresses quicker than I’d like to admit.

I found this gorgeous dress on ASOS, and I never really wear white, so I decided that I’d step outside of my comfort zone and go for it (although I was terrified that something would be spilled all over me on the night).  I love the simplicity of the dress, and how the slit and sequins along the side added something extra to it.

I kept my hair really simple, just giving it a deeper side split than usual and loose waves that I did with a thick curling barrel.  I applied Cocoa Brown tan for two nights to get a really deep colour, so I wouldn’t look like Casper the Ghost against the dress. I went for simple accessories, with a sparkly clutch from New Look and a few rings from ASOS and Penneys. I wore my nude Kurt Geiger shoes, but you could hardly see them because of the length of the dress. They were so comfortable that I lasted in them all night, right up until I got home early this morning.

For my makeup I used Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette, Eyelure Cheryl lashes, MAC Brave lipstick and MAC Ample Pink lipgloss and about 10 other products for bronzing, highlighting, contouring etc. Let me know in the comments if you want a full makeup look!

I’m glad that I somehow survived the night without spilling anything on myself, although after a three course meal and a few drinks I don’t know how I didn’t! Cascada (remember her?!) played at the ball too, she was great! It was such a good night with my boyfriend and friends – I’m already looking for an excuse to get dressed up again!
