Revlon Highlighting Palette Review

Isn’t it beautiful? I’ve been trying to expand on my drugstore beauty brands recently, and while Revlon is my favourite for lip products, I’d never really tried any of their mascaras, foundations or in this case, bronzers. The Revlon Highlighting Palette was a pretty good place to start, I think.

Strikingly similar to the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick for a fraction of the price, I figured that I had to try out this product. Especially as it was on a 3for2 deal in Boots. I’ve tried this product a few ways and there are some that worked really well, and some that really didn’t for me.

I picked up the shade Bronze Glow, which has five gorgeous pink/brown/gold shimmery shades. The shimmer is really fine and natural and gives a lovely iridescent glow to the face. Considering that I’m quite pale I thought that this may look orange on me, but it doesn’t.

The first shade in the palette, a while/pearl colour, looks great as a highlighter along the brow bone, cheekbone or in the inner corner of the eye. I couldn’t see myself using any of the other colours on their own for any purpose, but I do think they look nice as an eyeshadow. The first time I used this I tried to apply the darkest shade as a contour. Big, big mistake. It was too shimmery and dark to use as a contour, and made me look like I’d tried to apply an eyeshadow as a contour. Not good.

However, I found that mixing all of the colours together works best for me. The result is a gorgeous pink/bronze shimmer that gives a gorgeous glow. Using this during the day I apply it very lightly as a blush/highlight. At night, it looks great applied more heavily just below the cheekbone, considering I’m usually more tanned for nights out! This didn’t work as a contour for me. I personally prefer matte bronzers as a contour, and although this is called ‘Bronze Glow’ it is a highlighting palette.

I can’t wait to use the coming into the summer when I pick up more of a tan (who am I kidding? Cocoa Brown will be my best friend). The colours are perfect to give a lovely glow, without looking too shiny or glittery. There are so many ways you can use this product, you just have to find out what works best for you!
