21 Things I’m Excited To Leave Behind In 2018

The fact that I genuinely asked my friends over the weekend what year it is shows just how clued in I am to the fact that as of today, there are 12 days left of 2017. Even writing that feels weird.

I say this every year, but I truly can’t keep up with what year it is – sometimes I even think it’s still 2012 because of how fast time is going.

I haven’t even begun to think of a recap of 2017 (I’m hoping to do a 2017 highlights post over the next week or two), but on the whole I’m going to say it has been pretty good. I started a new job, travelled every few months and even got my first tattoo yesterday!

Saying that, there are definitely some things I’m excited to leave behind when the clock turns midnight…

Biting my nails – Maybe 2018 will finally be the year!

Snapchat – Instagram Stories has my heart.

Self-comparison – Ain’t nobody got time for that, unless it’s productive or motivating.

Topshop Joni jeans – ASOS Ridley jeans are SO much better.

Hoarding receipts, boxes and shopping bags after one month – They hardly ever come in handy.

Being hard on myself about where my blog ‘should be’ – We’re always exactly where we’re meant to be, right?

Worrying about other people’s opinions – Unless they know me personally or professionally, there’s no value.

Not planning my lunches – Meal prep can’t be that hard, right?

Buying things I don’t need – Realistically, I don’t need to buy clothes/shoes/makeup for another five years.

Using my phone constantly – Having a break from my phone/laptop can only mean good things.

Procrastinating from doing unappealing tasks – If it takes less than 5 minutes, just do it there and then.

Gluten – I am determined to take my coeliac disease more seriously and leave gluten completely behind me </3

Worrying about things I can’t control – I’m a real worrier, if you haven’t guessed. But I’m getting there!

Taking ages to reply to people’s messages – I’m sorry! It’s not you, it’s me.

Following accounts that don’t inspire/motivate me or make me smile – What’s the point, then?

Chocolate rice cakes – I estimate that I’ve eaten 27,457 this year. It’s time to break free.

Using disposable coffee cups and water bottles – Blue Planet has really inspired me to try to make more environmentally-conscious decisions.

Crazy eyebrow trends – Christmas tree eyebrows are just too far, people.

Making excuses for things I want to do, but am too scared to do – eg. running a marathon, focussing more my blog.

Being so hard on myself – At the end of the day, we’re really all just trying our best.

Kitten heels – As a ’90s child, I’ll forever have a fear of kitten heels. Maybe one day…

What are you excited to leave behind in 2017? I hope you all enjoy these last few days in the run up to Christmas, I can’t wait!
